Viruses are disliked by large blobs because they can break a blob into pieces upon collision once the blob exceeds the size of the virus. As your cell increases in size, it moves more slowly, necessitating strategic thinking to evade larger cells that may consume you. The spiky green viruses scattered throughout the map can serve as either a valuable ally or a formidable foe.
A classic pro move is to back them into a corner of the map, taking away their escape routes and making them easy Agar io prey. The simple loop of eating, growing, and surviving is a thrill you’ll want to experience again and again. Get ready to learn how to dominate the leaderboard and become the biggest cell in this addictively fun online game. Always give yourself room to move when you’re not the biggest blob on the scene. When you find yourself stuck in a corner, there’s not much you can do to escape a predator. Chasing after a bunch of smaller ones is tempting, but the rewards are smaller and you run the risk that you’ll head into a hazard and lose mass unintentionally, by running into a virus or another larger player. When you are about to eat the smaller cell they will then quickly split, into as many cells as possible, into the smaller cell allowing it to consume you.
A common strategy is coiling the player’s snake around a smaller opponent’s in a loop, until the opponent, trapped in the tightening loop, crashes into the player. When the button is released, or the finger on the touchscreen on mobile, the snake will stop using its boost. You grow by consuming small static pellets or by eating smaller player cells while avoiding larger ones.
Small cells can hide inside a virus cluster for protection. If a cell larger than 133 mass touches a virus, it explodes into up to 16 smaller pieces — making it extremely vulnerable. Viruses are defensive structures on the map.

There’s also a spectator mode if you just want to watch, and like I said, it’s becoming popular on Twitch as well.
